Island Dressings and IV Dressings are wound dressings designed with a non-adherent Wound Pad in the center and an adhesive border
that secures it to the surrounding skin.
Island Dressings are commonly used to protect wounds, especially after surgical procedures, and help create a moist healing environment. These dressings are designed to be gentle on the skin, minimizing trauma during application and removal.
IV Dressings are sterile dressings used to protect and secure the insertion site of an intravenous (IV) catheter, a tube inserted into a vein to administer fluids or medications. They are designed to prevent infection and help hold the catheter firmly in place, minimizing movement and potential complications like phlebitis.
Some IV Dressings incorporate antimicrobial agents like chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG) to provide additional protection against infection.
In the field of simple, classic island dressings, RCA Bignami offer modular web-processing machines which can be flexibly adapted to the specific product requirements and material behaviour.
